Important Notice to North Carolina Executors About Digital Assets

digital assets actThe North Carolina governor signed a bill into law in June 2016 that provides for fiduciary access of digital assets. Under the new legislation, the decedent's digital communications and assets may be overseen by an executor. The Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act also extends this potential authority to trustees, agents under powers of attorney, and other fiduciary parties.
