Samantha Reichle, JD
Holding a Juris Doctorate from Duke Law School, Samantha Reichle handles probate and tax matters, drafts and revises estate planning documents, and manages North Carolina estate administration out of TrustCounsel’s Chapel Hill office.
“Even a simple estate plan has complicated steps. This is a topic not a lot of people want to think about, but it will include decisions that individuals need to be comfortable with for the rest of their lives,” says Reichle.
Laws affecting estate planning are evolving, especially when it comes to matters addressing same-sex couples in North Carolina. Couples need attorneys to explain new legislation and tax advantages. As an attorney-at-law and a member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Estates and Probate Law Section, Samantha looks forward to helping couples understand how developing laws affect their estates and advising ways to address these issues. While attending Duke on a merit-based scholarship, she participated with Phi Beta Kappa and was a member of the Duke Journal of Gender Law & Policy for two years. Her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill led to her receipt of a bachelor of arts with Highest Distinction, and the UNC Chancellor’s McNally Award for Excellence in Geography.
Although her formative years were spent in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Samantha has felt a stronger connection with North Carolina since her move to the Tar Heel State in 2004. “I love living here and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” she says. Hobbies and reading fiction balance days spent explaining complex legislation and preparing legal documents. In between building a personal collection of rare books, art, and other collectibles with her husband, Samantha spends her free time reading fantasy books—and then interviewing authors for a book blog she maintains.
